Truck bumpers are safety features required by law. In 1972, Congress enacted a law requiring bumpers to withstand a certain amount of impact. However, bumpers are not designed to necessarily protect the truck’s occupants, but to prevent the gas tank from exploding in the event of a collision.

If you buy a truck from any kind of reputable dealership, it will already have a bumper on it. If someone tries to sell you a car without a bumper, unless you already knew you’d have to find your own bumper, you should seriously question the legitimacy of that transaction.

Truck bumpers are generally made specifically for the make and model of the truck. There’s no guesswork involved here.
