When you buy a new or a used Toyota truck, there are usually a number of used Toyota truck accessories that come with the vehicle. But, there are also many new accessories that may or may not be included at the time of purchase.

Because most people buy trucks for the purpose of loading, pulling and hauling, it is a good thing to have extra accessories to help you accomplish the things you want to do.

Here are a few suggestions of items that you may want to have for your truck:

• Bed extender - Anybody who has ever tried to place a five-foot-long pipe into a four-foot-long truck bed already knows what it’s like to wish for a longer bed. A bed extender gives you that option without having to purchase a new truck. With an extender, let down the rear hatch and place the bed extender on top. Extenders can be purchased at different lengths, but it is best to not buy one that goes out too much longer than the back hatch does when open.

• Back-up camera - While it can be difficult to see a child or object behind you when you are driving a 4-door sedan, it is nearly impossible to see behind you when you are driving a Toyota truck. It is because of this that many trucks now offer a back-up camera. This camera is small and low profile in the back of the truck. A small screen in the cab allows you to view what is happening (or not happening) behind you.

• Roof rack - Racks can let you store things like bicycles and luggage without taking up room in the cab.

• Cargo net - If you use your truck for a lot of hauling, having a cargo net atop the things in the cab may be a good idea. This cargo net could help ensure that light, loose items would not fly up and out of the bed as you travel. Likewise, it can help keep other items in place that could slide around during travel.

• Emergency assistance kit - An emergency assistance kit in the glove compartment or under the seat features all of the important things you might need to get your truck operational if there are problems. Most of the things this kit will fix are only temporary, so the problem should be looked at as soon as possible upon returning to civilization.

These are just a few of the Toyota truck accessories available. There are literally dozens from which you can choose. The final decision concerning which to choose should depend mostly on what it is that you feel you need and can afford.
