Ground effect is a generic term describing any aerodynamic effects on a vehicle's body. The systems of skirts and dams are designed to reduce drag on a car or truck, which makes it go faster and handle better.

On cars and trucks, ground effects are used to generate downforce, which improves handling. The term “ground effects” is sometimes used to indicate aerodynamic body parts to produce downforce.

Ground effects can be purchased new, used, in kits, or piece by piece. Usually ground effects are designed to fit a specific car and any company selling them will have them listed by car type and year.
