Original
Ford Ranger truck accessories included the roll bar, the grill guard
and white painted wheels. They appeared in the mid-1980s as options
on Generation I Rangers. In 1989, the first Generation II Ranger was
introduced. The new wrap-around style front end included flush-mounted
halogen headlights, wrap-around parking lights and a flush-mounted grill.
The engine continued to get more powerful, a larger gas
tank and anti-lock brakes were also introduced. By 1991, the list of
Ford Ranger truck accessories would include a plastic composite material
bed, a special paint and tape package and a 60/40 split bench seat.
A new, more aerodynamic look marked the launch of the Generation III
Ranger in 1993. Nearly every part of the interior was overhauled as
well. The dashboard, seats and headliner were updated and a multi-function
control stalk was added to the steering wheel.
In the mid-1990s the after-market automobile accessories market exploded.
As a result, so did the number of available Ford Ranger truck accessories.
By 1995, standard options included airbags, powers seats and CD changers.
More importantly, the automobile industry was becoming increasingly
obsessed with safety and reliability. Passenger side airbags became
ubiquitous and models like the Ranger boasted the ability to go up to
100,000 miles between tune-ups.
